The Los Angeles Flute Orchestra (LAFO) is an 8-12 member professional ensemble comprised of Los Angeles based flutists. The LAFO's style covers the full spectrum from baroque and classical to jazz, contemporary and ethnic genres. The LAFO is available for concert performances and recordings. What makes the LAFO special is its extremely versatile instrumentation. The group features the entire flute family-Piccolo, C Flute, Alto and Bass Flutes, the unique Contra-Bass Flute, the rare Sub-Contra Bass and F-Bass Flutes and various ethnic flutes. As a result, the group achieves a highly resonant, dense and complex sound. Unprecedented sound capabilities coupled with the group's exceptional musicianship have attracted the interest of many composers and orchestrators from around the world who have contributed to the LAFO's exclusive repertoire. The group is dedicated to the performance of original works, and continues to pursue one-of-a-kind dynamic pieces.

LAFO in Concert with Peter Sheridan
Friday, April 13, 2012 8 p.m. - Santa Monica, CA
Saturday, August 11, 2012 7 p.m. - Las Vegas, NV
The LAFO is pleased to be performing again with Peter Sheridan, low flute soloist from Australia on two upcoming concerts. The April 13 concert is part of Peter Sheridan's Los Angeles concert series tour and will include the second performance of Nuestro Pueblo by Peter Senchuk. Nuestro Pueblo - Concerto for Low Flute Soloist and Flute Ensemble, was premiered at the 2010 NFA convention in Anaheim by the LAFO and Mr. Sheridan, and is a four movement work inspired by the Los Angeles landmark Watts Towers. Each movement features the soloist on a different low flute (Alto, Bass, Contra Bass and Sub Contra Bass Flute), and depicts the colorful and tumultuous history of the artist and the towers. The program will also feature many other original works for low flutes and flute ensemble, and range in style from classical to swing. A few days after this concert, the LAFO and Peter Sheridan will head into the studio to record Nuestro Pueblo and several other pieces for an upcoming CD and iTunes release.
The Saturday, August 11, 7:00 p.m. performance at the National Flute Association 2012 Annual Convention at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV will be performed by LAFO members Jonna Carter, David Lamont, Cathy Larson, Joanne Lazzaro, Michael Morton, Laura Osborn, Emily Senchuk, Roland Tso, Sherril Wood and conducted by Ellen Burr. The program will consist of music written and arranged for the LAFO by composers Michael Kibbe, Pierre Schroeder, Emily Senchuk and Peter Senchuk and feature unique ethnic instruments, a one of a kind low flute section (F Bass, Contra Bass, F Contra Bass and Sub Contra Bass Flutes) and a guest solo appearance by Peter Sheridan.
